RE appointment 5/29/07
Short version: Waited over an hour, went back, and told him what I wanted. He Rxed it and sent me on my way.
Longer version: My sister was able to go with me (hallelujah!!), so she kept me company during the long wait. When I went back, he asked what I wanted to do. Then he started filling out the Rx pad (it's for Ascend Pharmacy in Portland, ME). As he went along, he asked if I knew the risks associated with injectables. I talked about OHSS but didn't know the second issue. He started talking about multiples. And then he asked what we'd do with triplets or quads. I said we'd just do it. And of course you know he wanted to talk about selective reduction.
He mentioned increased risk of premature birth and retardation (first I've heard of that second one, but whatever). I said we'd just deal with it. He said it wasn't fair to the baby. And I said we'd be ok, it'd be ok. "What do you mean, 'it'll be ok'?" he asked. I said we would take what we were given and deal with it. "It's not an option," I told him. There was a bit of a staring match going on by this point. And THEN he made me sit through his dictation of my visit over the phone, emphasizing the fact that I wasn't willing to do selective reduction.
After that, he walked me back out to Tina the Incompetent, who faxed my Rx to the pharmacy.
I'll be taking Menopur & Novarel. Whee! At least the Menopur is subcutaneous (injected just under the skin) rather than intramuscular (injected into a muscle). I'm not sure about the Novarel.
