Good conference

We had a conference @ our church this weekend. The theme was Reformed Theology & the Family, and Anthony Carter and Sharard Burns spoke. A.C. spoke at last year's conference, but S.B. was new. He was really a great preacher, though, and his messages truly hit home.

One thing I'd like to remember is that when I submit to Dan (or when he loves me) as commanded in Ephesians 5, the object really isn't Dan (or me, as the case may be). I shouldn't be submitting to him so much as I'm submitting to Christ. My mind should always be on submitting my life and heart to Christ, and when I do that, submitting to Christ's representative in our home will not be that hard. I think I'm wording this poorly. I am supposed to submit to Dan, but I can't be focused on him. My focus can't be on the human aspect but rather the eternal aspect.

S.B. said that if each spouse is in hot pursuit of God, marital problems won't be an issue. And that makes sense. If we're each focused on how we can be closer to God and on how to improve our relationship with Him, we will necessarily be working to follow His commands in our relationship with each other.

It's amazing how much sense biblical teaching makes. ;o)
